Healthy Morning Routine to Have a Perfect Day

In order to make sure that we have a full of energy, happy and productive day is important to start it in the right way. Mornings are the key to establish how the day is going to be. Postponing the alarm until the last minute, dressing in a hurry, not having the time to make breakfast and starting with a feeling of stress doesn’t guarantee that you will have a peaceful day. Carrying out a morning routine that helps promote healthy and relaxing habits can make your days more productive and, above all, happier since morning. In my case, I like to get up two to three hours before I start working to make sure I have enough time to do all the activities that are going to help me be calmer and that will make it easier for me to have a more restful day. Of course, this is personal and each individual has their own preferences. The key is to find whatever makes you feel good and adapts better to your day. Just base your choices on activities that are healthy and promote a good physical and mental state. Bellow you’ll find my recommendation. I hope they inspire you to create your own.

My morning routine actually starts the night before. If you want to see what my night routine is, click here.

1. Tidy up the house before going to sleep.

Doing so, when you wake up you won’t have to waste your time tidying up, washing up dishes, etc and, instead, you’ll be able to carry out your activities in a nice environment. You already know the saying "Tidy room, tidy mind".

2. Set the phone in airplane mode before bed.

When I wake up I avoid looking at the phone immediately. I prefer to decide what I want my mind to focus on first thing in the morning. Looking at social media can determine what you are going to think about or trigger negative emotions.

3. Drink water when you wake up.

After spending hours sleeping, it is important to hydrate. Drinking water in the morning helps eliminating toxins that our body does not need and boost our metabolism. If you have trouble drinking water, flavor it!. For example: cucumber, red fruits, orange or lemon. In the latter case, drinking water with lemon juice has tons of benefits. It helps us to promote healthy digestion and has anti-inflammatory properties.

4. Do yoga or stretch.

Exercising first thing in the morning is very beneficial. It will help your body wake up, accelerate your metabolism and reduce stress. In addition, certain yoga positions can increase your energy levels without the need for coffee. Finally, taking those minutes for yourself, breathing and connecting with your body are ways to show yourself love.

5. Meditate 5-10 minutes every morning (or more if you can!).

This practice will help you be more calm and in control during the day. The endorphins released during meditation are not only good for your emotional well-being but also energy boosters. Morning meditation makes you feel more awake and alert.

6. Make a list of your goals for the day and visualize your day.

Making to-do-list will help you be more productive. While doing it, visualize a perfect day to fill you up with positive energy. Remember, you should only write down realistic goals. When me write unrealistic to-do-list, not being able to accomplish all the objectives, can bring us frustration.
